Two families of crystal oscillators, which are customisable for frequencies from 16kHz to 1.5GHz, have been introduced by Integrated Device Technology (IDT). Suitable for networking, communications, data I/O, storage and server applications, the XU and XL oscillators feature a typical jitter value of 300fs RMS with a maximum value of 400fs, integrated over 12kHz to 20MHz.

The XU devices are available in LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL and HCMOS outputs, with operating voltages of 3.3, 2.5 or 1.8V. Offered in 7x5 or 5x3.2mm packages, the crystal oscillators feature frequency stabilities as low as ±20ppm and operate across a temperature range of -40 to +85ºC.

Available in LVPECL, LVDS and HCMOS outputs, the XL devices are offered with operating voltages of 3.3 or 2.5V. The crystal oscillators, which are available in 7x5, 5x3.2 or 3.2x2.5mm packages, feature frequency stabilities as low as ±20ppm and operate across a temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

“The XU and XL crystal oscillators are IDT’s response to the increasingly stringent jitter requirements resulting from higher data throughput in serial IO technologies,” commented Dave Shepard, Vice President and General Manager, Timing and RF Division, IDT. “Our oscillators offer designers a reliable and economical solution to address the growing challenges of frequency control.”
