Frequency control specialist, Euroquartz has launched an ultra-low phase noise voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) from US manufacturer Greenray Industries.

The new surface mount crystal oscillator also offers low g-sensitivity performance making them ideal for use where vibration conditions are encountered.

The N623-1 VCXO offers nominal 100Mhz frequency sinewave output from a 9 x 14mm SMD package with typical phase noise performance ranging from -85dBc/Hz at 10Hz frequency offset up to -175dBc/Hz at 1MHz frequency offset.

Phase noise is a critical characteristic in many applications including communications and digital systems as well as high performance radar installations.

The oscillator’s low-g sensitivity performance ensures that phase noise performance is maintained under vibration conditions enabling their use as stable reference sources in communications, aerospace and defence systems and applications.

Additional specifications include supply voltage of 5.0V DC, current requirement of 30mA, typical load of 50Ω, power level at 25°C of 12dBm typical and operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C.

Frequency variation over the full operational temperature range is ±15ppm while frequency versus supply voltage is ±1ppm for ±0.25V change. Ageing characteristic over 1 year is less than 1ppm.

Other frequencies and options are available to special order. Environmental specifications include random vibration to MIL-STD-202, Meth 204, Cond A and mechanical shock per MIL-STD-202, Meth 213, Cond C.
