The sub miniaturisation of the ubiquitous 32.768 kHz ‘watch crystal’ continues with package sizes reduced to (2.0 x 1.2) mm and very low profile. Available from TFC, smd tuning fork crystals are a low cost crystal with an ultra-low profile of 0.9mm and three standard packages of 2.0 x 1.2mm, 3.2 x 1.5mm and 4.2 x 1.5mm.

Manufactured within a vacuum sealed ceramic enclosure, the lightweight, miniature, ultra-thin crystals are suitable for basic timing applications and perfectly suited for portable and mobile telecommunication devices. These crystals are available with short delivery and supplied on tape and reel with 3000 pieces per reel, excellent tolerance and extended temperature range for industrial and military applications.

Standard spec includes:

  • Environment: ceramic package high vacuum
  • Quartz orientation: flexure mode
  • Frequency: 32.768 kHz
  • Adjustment tolerance:  ±20ppm at +25ºC as standard
  • Temperature coefficient: -0.04ppm/ºC2
  • Load: 12.5pF as standard
  • Operating temperature: -40 ~ +85ºC
  • Ageing: ±3ppm typical per year
  • Q factor: 30,000 typical
  • Insulation resistance:  500Meg Ω min. at 100Vd.c.
