FPGA speeds time-to-market of mobile devices

Designed to speed the time-to-market of mobile devices, the iCE40 UltraLite FPGA has been released by Lattice Semiconductor. Measuring 1.4×1.4mm, the device is 68% smaller than its closest competitor. The FPGA, which features built-in hardened IPs and LED drivers, also requires 30% less power than its closest competitor. The device’s small footprint, high level of integration and low power consumption allow manufacturer’s to easily add multiple capabilities to their mobile devices.

“Our iCE40 UltraLite device is the latest example of our commitment to enable manufacturers to continually enhance their smartphones, wearables and other mobile devices to improve the user experience and to compete in a crowded marketplace,” said Keith Bladen, Vice President, Marketing, Lattice. “Compelling features such as remote control, barcode, pedometer, power management and many other capabilities make the iCE40 UltraLite device suitable for size constrained, power sensitive and cost-conscious mobile devices, for both the consumer and industrial hand-held markets.”
