Both displays are based on SFT/IPS technology, so the viewing angle is 88 degrees all the way round without any colour change/inversion making them ideal for portable medical applications where the viewing position can vary.
This also means that any orientation of these displays is possible without any loss of readability.
Both displays have LED backlight with a typical long lifetime of 30,000 hours to half brightness. The luminance of the 7 inch is 400cd/m2 and the 10.1” is 500cd/m2.
This is a good compromise for readability in bright ambient light conditions and also ensures battery driven applications save battery power. The Resolution of these two displays is 1280×800 pixels.
Soon to be available will be the option to have a PCAP touch sensor factory fitted allowing multifinger operation and gesture input by the operator.
RDS also offers a range of the latest embedded PC solutions configured to drive the two panels over an LVDS cable interface.
