The new five inch WVGA (800x480) TFT display module, from GPEG International includes the option of adding a ā€˜projective capacitiveā€™ touch screen, a product availability lifetime of a minimum of three years, a high brightness long life LED backlight, excellent contrast ratio and an extended operating temperature range of -30C to +85C.
Adding a PCT touchscreen allows designers to emulate the functionality of the latest consumer music players and mobile phones into their latest products. Available in single or multitouch the touch screen allows for ā€˜gesturingā€™ functions such as ā€˜pinchingā€™ ā€“ zoom out, ā€˜stretchingā€™ ā€“ zoom in and ā€˜swipeā€™ ā€“ left, right, up and down.

The PCT has a high impact resistance (3H) and will work with a gloved hand. Light transmission is typically 88% with a positional accuracy of better than 1%.

The 800xRGBx480 pixels (WVGA) TFT LCD module uses amorphous silicon transmissive LCD technology and an LED backlight to achieve typical brightness levels of 450cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 250:1. The display will operate in portrait or landscape mode.

The LED backlight supports wide range dimming control using PWM and has a lifetime of 50K hours the LED driver is built in. A wide left-right viewing angle of 160 degrees further underlines the display's adaptability in real-world industrial applications.

This new display is particularly suitable for use in equipment that requires excellent readability while operating under harsh climatic conditions. These include outdoor and industrial applications such as portable information terminals, test equipment, marine instruments and access-control systems.
