KOE (Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics) has introduced two new 8.0" Rugged+ TFT display modules.

The TX20D208VM0BAA and TX20D208VM0BAB TFT displays feature WVGA resolution (800x480 pixels), a wide 16:9 aspect ratio, in-plane switching (IPS) provides optical performance. These two new modules join a wide product range of 8.0" TFT displays currently available from KOE.

For graphical user interface (GUI) applications, IPS display technology delivers outstanding colour performance providing exceptional colour saturation and image stability, strong contrast ratios and deep black levels combined with 176° viewing angles (vertical and horizontal).

These key attributes deliver display images that are concise, accurate, colourful, and bright.

The 8.0-inch displays feature a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a white LED backlight with a specified brightness rating of 1200cd/m² and a half brightness lifetime rating of 100K hours.

The TX20D208VM0BAA features an integrated pulse width modulation (PWM) LED backlight control circuit which enables the backlight brightness to be easily and accurately controlled from 100% to 0%.

The TX20D208VM0BAB module is supplied without any integrated backlight control.

Rugged+ modules are designed specifically for use in industrial, medical, in-vehicle, marine and aerospace applications where consistent and guaranteed operation under extreme temperature, mechanical shock and vibration conditions are essential. A further feature of all Rugged+ display modules is the cosmetic specification which defines zero bright pixel defects.

Benson Huang, marketing manager, KOE said, "The development and introduction of additional medium-sized display modules continues to demonstrate KOE's ongoing commitment to support the industrial market with an extensive range of premium, high quality display modules. The 8.0-inch wide aspect ratio TFT display is widely used across the electronics industry in many diverse and varied applications, and continues to be a popular display format.”

A 20-pin LVDS interface supports 8-bit RGB colour data which enables a colour palette of up to 16.7 million colours.

Both 8.0-inch display modules feature the same mechanical outline dimensions of 190.8mm (w) x 120.5mm (h) x 15.7mm (d) and active LCD area of 174mm (w) x 104.4mm (h). Pixel pitch is 0.2175mm (w) x 0.2175mm (h).

Operation is extreme temperature environments is supported with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a storage temperature range of -40°C to +90°C.
