Distec GmbH presents Prisma-IIIA, the latest member of the proven cost-efficient and powerful Prisma converter card series. The new TFT controller Prisma-IIIA decouples the control of TFT displays from display specific parameters. The key advantage of the Prisma-IIIA is that now users can freely choose and program all display specific parameters, explained Dieter Kiermaier, Head of Sales and Marketing Components with Distec. Through the use of TFT controller cards, interfaces to displays will remain stable and possible changes by vendors will not require any computer-side redesign. With the latest model Prisma-IIIA we provide a highly modern board for demanding industry and video applications to our customers. The temperature range of the Prisma-IIIA covers 0°C to 70°C, with an optional extended temperature range between -20°C and 70°C.

Free Customization by Users

The individual customization by the user allows for an entirely free choice of displays, without committing for a specific configuration. In contrast to pre-configured TFT controllers it also eases warehousing if many different configurations come into operation. By means of the configuration software MarsRover, parameters like timing, LVDS position, power sequencing, and backlight can be defined and positioned without limitation. In order to support integration and EMC approvals best possible, MarsRover software allows aligning LVDS levels and adjusting spread spectrum clocking. Configuration using software additionally allows for easy transmission of settings onto other cards. As such, Prisma-IIIA can serve as a blueprint for dedicated OSD settings, like for example color settings and brightness. In addition to standard signals, another 4 GPIOs are available, which can be included in power sequencing and provide such things as choice of color mapping or reverse imaging. With the software, the EDID data for each single input (VGA, DVI, HDMI) can also be refreshed.

Versatile and Robust

On top of custom inputs such as VGA and DVI, the converter card provides a variety of analog video inputs like Composite Video, S-Video as well as Component Video (1080p). The DVI input offers 1080p at a color depth of 12 Bit and is HDMI capable. With the VGA input a resolution of 2128x1200 (at 60 Hz and reduced blanking) and 205 MHz bandwidth are provided. Additionally, an internal HDMI 1.3 input including HDCP is available. Prisma-IIIA can be operated by infrared remote control and with a serial protocol. In particular, for industrial usage, Prisma-IIIA provides the necessary software interfaces (remoteOSD) to allow access via serial interface. USB access is managed by the USB-RS-232 converter. A long-term available serial USB interface is forthcoming shortly. Prisma-IIIA fulfills the need for electromagnetic compatibility with low emission and the highest possible noise immunity. Without a casing the TFT controller already accomplishes class A according to EN55022. In addition to standard implementation, Distec realizes individual customizations at the hardware and software level.
