NIR LEDs range expanded with compact top-view types
ROHM has expanded its portfolio of surface-mount near-infrared (NIR) LEDs with compact top-view types, addressing the growing demand for advanced sensing technologies in applications like VR/AR devices, industrial sensors, and human detection.
These LEDs offer improved design flexibility, higher precision, and power savings due to their high radiant intensity in a compact package.
They are in stock at authorised distributor DigiKey.
The lineup includes six models across three package configurations, such as the ultra-compact PICOLED series, with options for 850 nm and 940 nm wavelengths to suit various needs like eye tracking, object detection, motion sensing, and biosensing (e.g., pulse oximeters).
ROHM proprietary technology allows these compact LEDs to achieve industry-leading radiant intensity, resulting in better sensing accuracy and reduced power consumption for the entire system.
The LEDs come in ultra-compact package configurations with 850 nm and 940 nm wavelengths and 30 mA and 50 mA forward current
Applications cover VR/AR licenses (eye tracking and gesture recognition); industrial optical sensors (object passage and position detection); self-checkout systems (bill/card detection), and mobile printers (paper detection); pulse oximeters (blood flow/oxygen saturation measurement); home appliance remote controls (IR data communication) and robot vacuum cleaners (floor detection).
