LeadingUI chooses Cortus APS1 Processor for Touchscreen Applications

Cortus announce that they are working together to offer touchscreen designs based on Cortusā€™ APS1 processor core. Cortus S.A. licenses a range of 32-bit processor cores for embedded systems. The cores provide licensees with a scalable choice in embedded computational performance and silicon area to meet a wide variety of application needs.
ā€œModern touchscreen applications require silicon efficiency and very low powerā€ says Sang Hyun Han, Chief Technology Officer of LeadingUI, ā€œThe Cortus APS1 with its tiny silicon footprint is ideal for our user interface applicationsā€. He explains, ā€œDespite its small size, the core has adequate computational performance for our gesture recognition algorithms and we benefit from ultra-low power consumptionā€.

ā€œWe are delighted that LeadingUI has chosen APS1 to power their touchscreen productsā€, says Michael Chapman, CEO and President of Cortus, ā€œBy using our 32-bit core they can have a proven and rapid software development cycle by using a high level languageā€.

The Cortus family of APS processors starts with the worldā€™s smallest 32-bit core, the APS1, and goes up to the floating point FPS6. All cores interface to Cortusā€™ peripherals including Ethernet 10/100 MAC, USB 2.0 Device and USB 2.0 OTG via the efficient APS bus. They also share the simple vectored interrupt structure which ensures rapid, real time interrupt response, with low software overhead.

The APS toolchain and IDE (for C and C++) is available to licensees free of charge, and which can be customised and branded for final customer use. Ports of various RTOSs are available such as FreeRTOS, Micrium μC/OSII.
