Smart Terminals Improve Entertainment, Communications and Clinical Access
JAOtech has announced a new range of patient bedside Smart Terminals for 2010, offering the latest high performance Intel processors, cutting edge styling and a host of product improvements and features.JAOt
The 2010 range Zivo, Jima, Obie and Arie terminals offer new low voltage Intel Atom processors, developed with ground breaking power management techniques and software scalability in mind. A wide temperature range and small form factor make them ideal for fanless, quiet operation, critical in the medical environment.
Significant design modifications to the new terminals include overall weight reductions due to a new aluminium chassis and offering new plastics with sleek modern styling incorporating blue LEDs and touch sensitive buttons - making the terminals even easier to sterilise. Overall connectivity is improved with additional USB ports and dual headphone sockets so patients and visitors can watch films or TV together. Advanced phone cable management and the inclusion of internal microphones improve communications, essential during a hospital stay.
Like existing JAOtech terminals, the 2010 range supports Linux and Windows. In addition to meeting the requirements of UL60601 in full, all the terminals include existing design features that suit them to the demanding, clean environment of a hospital ward. All terminals can be readily deep cleaned using popular cleaning and sterilisation agents, offering a wipe down design, and sealed front and rear faces to IP65 and IP54 respectively as well as the inclusion of Novaron® anti-bacterial plastics.
The terminals are offered in four screen sizes. The largest, the 18.5” widescreen Arie, was shortlisted in the prestigious 2009 Design Week awards in London. The other sizes are the Obie with a 17” display, 15.4” widescreen Jima and a 15” Zivo. They are offered with a full package of peripheral options supporting all popular patient entertainment applications. These include a VoIP phone, Bluetooth™, WLAN, a high resolution camera for communication and patient monitoring, biometrics and a wireless keyboard. Technologies available for clinical access control and billing support include Smart Card, magnetic card, RFID and bar-code technology as well as a Sonitor ultrasound receiver, providing a truly comprehensive array of location, identification and access control options.
