The FSD displays incorporate new generation TN LCD and backlight technology to produce an 8 colour LCD with bright and clear images. While Jet Black displays feature a vertical alignment process to produce a display with an exceptional contrast ratio and very wide viewing angles.
FSD (Field Sequential Displays)

This technology uses a RGB backlight together with a fast switching TN liquid crystal to display a colour pixel without the use of traditional colour filters. Each pixel can display eight colours with high contrast (up to 250:1) and a wide viewing angle of 120 degrees left to right.

GPEG’s Field Sequential Displays (FSD’s) incorporate a paper white background or, in the case of negative mode displays, a black mask which creates a very black background with minimal light bleed. The displays are available with an onboard controller which simplifies interfacing to popular microprocessors.

We offer a full customisation service for these displays and our project team will help guide you through the design process from concept to mass production.

The FSD series of colour LCD displays offers an economic alternative to full colour display solutions and allows you to upgrade a monochrome display to a colour display at a very competitive price.

Applications include, white goods, industrial devices, instruments, meters, and information displays.

Features:

* Eight colours per pixel, red, green, blue, yellow, cyan, purple, black and white

* Parallel and/or serial interface

* Low power

* High contrast >100:1

* Wide viewing angle>140 deg

* No colour filter

* Low cost

Jet Black

Using vertically aligned LCD technology produces a display with an exceptional contrast ratio and very wide viewing angles. Typically the contrast ratio is >800:1 with viewing angles of +80/-50 degrees up/down and -80/+80 degrees left/right.

The manufacturing process does not require a traditional black mask thus reducing the complexity of the display which keeps prices at a very economical level.

Using a white LED backlight ensures a bright, sharp image with an extended operating temperature range of -20~+80 degrees C. The displays also work well in direct sunlight.

The standard display features a black and white image however alternate colours can be produced using colour films or a different coloured LED backlight.

GPEG’s full custom design service is available with tooling charges starting at a very reasonable £750.00 with a mass production MOQ of only 1000 pcs

The technology is ideally suited to manufacturing segmented displays with ICONS.

Applications in the following areas include: energy metering, marine electronics, industrial instrumentation, consumer products and readout displays.
