TFTs with Excellent Sunlight Readability & Energy Efficiency for Outdoor Applications

New display sizes of 2.4” and 3.5” have just been added to Densitron Europe’s DBC TFT series which is designed with portable applications in mind to meet their high sunlight readability and low power consumption requirements. Displays in the range come with long-term availability guarantee and an extended lifetime of 50,000 hours.

The 2.4” TFT (DBC-24032024-1A0) has QVGA resolution and offers a contrast ratio of 400:1 (8.5:1 when backlight is switched off), a brightness of 300 nits at 60mW and an 80° viewing angle on each side. These qualities make the new display a perfect companion for battery operated industrial, medical and communication devices. Additionally, the new TFT has the same resolution and electronics design as the existing 2.7” display in the range, offering greater flexibility for design with different screen sizes.

The 3.5” TFT (DBC-48064035-1A0) has VGA resolution (480xRGBx640 dots) and is available in resistive touch version (DBC-48064035-1AR). With 600:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits at 180mW, and an 80° viewing angle on each side, the 3.5” display is especially suitable for next generation hand-held devices, such as data loggers, scanners, wireless remote controls and medical monitoring units.

The new displays can be evaluated with Densitron’s Video DUO kit which is a standalone ARM-9 TMS320DM365 platform that allows easy software development and has video capture and playback capabilities.

Densitron’s Engineering Design Service can further enhance the high-performing sunlight readable TFT displays by integrating standard or custom display modules with PCB, Plastics, Keypads and/or Multi-Touch Overlays.
