Anders Electronics has launched a custom engineering service that it says makes the display specialist the first company to offer semi-custom TFT modules for low volume applications. The new custom TFT engineering service will see Anders design and develop TFT modules that are optimised to target applications in terms of performance, functionality, optical characteristics, electrical and mechanical design. Furthermore, the combination of available technology and in-house engineering expertise allows Anders to develop semi-custom TFT displays for applications with low-volume production.
Polariser type, interface options - including serial, RGB, CPUI and I2C - touchscreen type and backlight arrangement are just some of the display elements that can be customised as part of the new service. In addition, Anders can also customise mechanical aspects of the design including the bezel, the position of external connections and the type and length of cable.

Rob Anders, the Anders Electronics CEO, states: “This new service is a key element in our drive to go beyond simply supplying product and to provide application-optimised displays that truly enhance the user machine relationship. In the past, sourcing custom and semi-custom TFT modules has only been commercially viable for applications with higher volume production runs. The new Anders service, however, provides a much more cost-effective approach, making it viable for even low volume manufacture.”
