The latest embedded system building block to be announced by BVM is the OFP-084, a highly featured open frame 8.4 inch LCD monitor with an integral VGA interface, touch screen capability and built-in audio and composite video options. Resolutions of up to 1024 x 768 are supported. The device, which offers outstanding value for money, is aimed at applications such as in-vehicle displays for GPS, reversing camera images, audio and climate control systems, consumer-facing kiosks, ATM units, industrial control units and any interface where a touch screen feature is required.
The integral VGA interface allows the unit to be driven from any standard PC without a secondary video transition module, a great saving in cost and space; a composite video input is optionally supported. The five-wire touch screen with USB controller and the video and audio inputs are connected to the host machine through a single composite connector with a breakout lead providing conventional VGA, RCA, and audio jacks reducing wiring complexity. Power in is via a universal auto-sensing 90 - 260VAC, 50 or 60Hz PSU or 12VDC.

Picture-in-picture is supported, the usual front panel controls are provided and an OSD facility simplifies set-up and adjustment. A wireless control interface is optionally available. Brightness is typically 400 cd/m2, contrast ratio is 450 : 1 and the viewing angle is around 130°.
