We have had requests for this functionality from many of our customers, said Joe Frank, head of Zuken’s E3 business unit. This product has wide ranging benefits for our customers in both the transportation and machinery industries. With E³.topology, they will be able to design their products with more accuracy, reduce the costs of their products, and avoid guesswork and rework.
The Topology Layout
+E³.topology allows engineers to define the functions of an electrical system by laying out functional blocks and defining the connections between them. Many details can be defined during the topology design process – such as the functions themselves, how they connect, where they go in the overall system and how many wire harnesses and sub-harnesses will be needed. This removes the educated guesswork often involved in the first phases of a project. Design information developed at this stage can then be used as the basis for the detailed wiring diagrams.
Beyond Transportation
+E³.topology enables machinery designers to define the control panel layout and place components (e.g. motors, sensors, emergency stop, etc.) in a draft drawing of the whole machine. In the process of doing so, the designer can estimate the cables and wires needed throughout the machine for optimal performance and interconnectivity.
