The latest version of Advantech WebAccess 7.1 is a leap forward in remote multiple site management. Version 7.1 improves on version 7 of the fully featured SCADA system by simplifying the installation process and adding the following functionality: integrated Google MapsTM, real-time database, remote connection and configuration of DiagAnywhere servers and another 3,500 symbols.
By integrating Google Maps into WebAccess, users can create placeholders (tags) and give them their own image and two keys pieces of real-time information such as the sites current power usage or in the case of oil rigs, their production rate or when being used on a highway, traffic flow. By clicking on the tags the user can then drill down even further into the site’s information, where they can watch and control all of the modules at that site. WebAccess 7.1 also comes with the added benefit of being able to connect to any modules DiagAnywhere client. This allows engineers to be able to monitor and control details such as memory use, temperature, voltage and any other details that would otherwise only be available locally.

To speed up data access, one major new feature is the integration of a specifically designed real-time database. Rather than using a relational database ie SQL or Oracle, which take a lot of time to build and are, by their very nature, quite slow, the dedicated WebAccess real-time database is capable of reading 500,000 records per second and recording 200,000 per second. This speed is further enhanced with the redundancy feature of WebAccess. Since WebAccess information is automatically duplicated across hard drives, so too is the database, therefore ensuring that in the event of a drive failure no data is lost. As you’d expect from an Advantech piece of software this database also includes an API for connecting to 3rd party hardware.

Previous versions of WebAccess included a mere 1,200 icons for users to use on their system, WebAccess 7.1 now has an extra 3,500, plus the ability for operators to design their own with the integrated icon designer. So now you’ll be at a loss for a descriptive image.

So, whether you’re administering to water treatment plants, oil and gas fields or multiple buildings in many cities, Advantech WebAccess 7.1 with its Google Maps integration, DiagAnywhere connection, real-time database and 4,700 icons is the only fully featured SCADA system you’ll need to schedule tasks, manage alarms and remotely administer any of your sites control modules from internet or intranet.
