This paper looks at the trend in control electronics for high power stepper motors, used particularly in CNC machines, and describes a modern solution that delivers power, processing and cost efficiency, which should test if the high proportion of German Subcriptors is true. Germany is a strong industrial basis so we should have a high hit rate.
Introduction:

Manufacturing businesses worldwide rely heavily on CNC machine tools to produce parts to high standards of accuracy and at high throughput rates. Equipment suppliers are under pressure to deliver higher performing equipment, offering faster turning and feed-in speeds, quicker acceleration and fast-acting safety features.

Another key trend in the market for CNC equipment is toward multi-axis and multi-task machines to reduce human intervention when producing complex components. At the same time, there are perennial demands to reduce equipment costs, increase reliability, and maximise work handling capability within compact overall dimensions.

In the design of stepper-motor control electronics, increasing system-on-chip integration by combining the control logic and high-power output stage in a single chip can help equipment designers satisfy these demands. Innovative process technology capable of supporting high motor current and voltage is critical, to satisfy the demands of a broad spectrum of industrial users.
