The new Intel Joule module features high-end compute and graphics as well as a large memory in a tiny, low-power package. This makes it ideal for innovative IoT edge compute applications and products requiring advanced computer vision. The new module as well as the developer kit are available at distributor Rutronik as of now.

Rutronik will present both devices at embedded world in Nuremberg (March 14-16).

Using the module, embedded developers as well as entrepreneurs are able to take their ideas from concept to prototype and ready for production in less time and for lower development and certification cost.

The system-on-module combines a 64Bit Quad-Core processor with Power Management Services, wireless connectivity and fast I/O to guarantee faster time-to-market.

It comes with 3, respectively 4GB memory and 8, respectively 16GB eMMC storage, Intel HD Graphics as well as 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.1.

It has HDMI, MIPI, CSI and DSI, GPIO, USB 3.0, UART, I2C, I2S, SPI and PCIe interfaces.

The Joule Module is compatible with Intel RealSense camera that enables 3D scanning, objection detection and people tracking.

The Intel Joule developer’s kit provides all of the tools a developer needs for getting started with the Intel Joule platform: It has the Joule module, an expansion board, two Wi-Fi antennas, a USB-cable (C-to-C), heatsink and fastening hardware as well as a SD card with pre-loaded software.
