Sundance DSP Inc., the supplier and manufacturer of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) and reconfigurable computing platforms, advanced IP cores, libraries and tools today announced that its PARS (Parallel Application from Rapid Simulation) software development environment was named winner of the Software Design category at the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Innovation Awards 2008.
Targeted at multiprocessor applications, PARS enables application designers to generate system target code, including DSP codes, FPGA codes and all of the required inter-processor communication and synchronization codes from a Simulink model. Created as a value-add companion to The MathWorks model-based design flow, PARS boasts multiple design wins and also supports The Mathworks RTW-EC and HDLCoder.

The Innovation Awards span 15 categories and attracted hundreds of entries from around the world. They represent a unique opportunity for industry innovators to be recognized and provide a showcase for the brightest ideas, highlighting the importance of innovation by celebrating its application across a range of engineering disciplines.

IET Chief Executive, Robin McGill, said, “I would like to congratulate all the winning and shortlisted entries in this year’s Innovation Awards, which demonstrate genuine novelty and represent a significant technological advance for the industry.

“The entries which made it to the shortlist are a very impressive roll call of innovation and although it may be a cliché to say “everyone is a winner,” in this case I am sure it is true. The awards highlight the depth and breadth of innovative work which is being carried out and it and it is clear from the range of entries that innovation is alive and well. The work undertaken on the projects highlighted by the Innovation Awards will help businesses grow and develop and have a positive impact in many areas.”

The award categories are: Asset Management, Built Environment, Electronics, Emerging Technologies, Information Technology, Power and Energy, Product Design, Project Team, Measurement in Action, Security, Software in Design, Start-ups, Sustainability, Telecommunications, and Transport.

Sundance DSP, R&D director Dr. Mansour Ahmadian commented “we are delighted that our investment and achievement in PARS has been recognized by an organization like the IET that is dedicated to advancing and representing the interests of science and technology around the world. This award was won in the face of stiff competition and is testament to our focus and effort in delivering outstanding DSP+FPGA multiprocessor solutions.”

The IET Innovation Awards 2008 are generously sponsored by: ABB, Accenture, Amplicon, BT, Cre8Ventures, Halcrow Yolles, National Grid, The MathWorks, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), RS Components, Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd (STDL), Withers & Rogers LLP and Nortel Networks. The awards are supported by the Department of Innovation, Universities & Skills (DIUS).
