“What we are hearing from new customers is that although they recognize that these are the most developed and complete Kits available, that budgets are being squeezed and entry price is becoming a key factor” said Bob Giblett, President of Strategic Test. “Also what we are seeing is a number of new competitors who sell technical support as an option to the Kit price and so we’ve decided to adopt an aggressive policy and extend our market lead by reducing the price and giving the customers the choice to buy technical support”
The PXA320-based TRITON Development Kit-4 and SOM started shipping in April, 2007 a week after the PXA320 chips became available. While the PXA270-based Kit-3 and SOM has been shipping since October 2004, some 6 months ahead of any competitor. Both Kits have received numerous software enhancements that are supplied free-of-charge by customer download.
Strategic Test also claims that unlike the majority of it’s competitors, its Windows CE 5.0, 6.0 and Linux 2.6 Binary Support Packages (BSP’s) have been developed in-house.
