Software development tools available for Freescale Kinetis MCUs

SOMNIUM Technologies has announced the general availability of version 2.1 of its Device-aware Resequencing Tools (DRT) software development tools for Freescale Kinetis MCUs.

DRT 2.1 maintains full compatibility with Freescale’s Kinetis Design Studio and Freescale’s software enablement. DRT’s IDE combines a familiar Eclipse UI, with enhancements for ease of use and debugging with full support for Freescale evaluation boards including OpenOCD based debug probes, and professional solutions including P&E Microsystem Multilink and Segger J-Link.

DRT 2.1 contains updates to the compiler, runtime libraries and resequencing optimisations to further extend DRT’s energy, codesize and performance optimisations with no source code changes required. DRT 2.1 also adds an Advanced Importer to import and automatically convert Freescale’s CodeWarrior 10.6 for Kinetis projects.

Using industry standard EEMBC Autobench and EEMBC EnergyBench proves that DRT’s patented optimisations can enable 50% energy savings, 30% to 70% reduction in ROM and RAM footprint and 10% performance increases over standard GNU ARM Launchpad tools widely used in other development tools products.
