Silicon Labs’ Ultra-Low Power Development Kit For Portable Applications

Silicon Labs’ new Badger Board evaluation kit for the Precision32 SiM3L1xx low-power 32-bit ARM microcontroller family is an easy-to-use development platform for ultra-low-power portable applications. Roughly the same size of an ID badge, the supercapacitor-charged BADGER-SiM3L1-EK highlights the power efficiency of SiM3L1xx ARM MCUs in an LCD-based system.

The board contains an SiM3L1xx MCU, segmented LCD, supercapacitor, LED, optical sensor, debug interface and USB port.

Key Features:

» Versatile, easy-to-use low-power LCD demo kit and software – see the performance of the LCD and battery life of the application; displays key power consumption specs on the LCD.

» LCD with charge redistribution architecture – low-power LCD operation while in sleep mode; reduces power consumption of the physical display up to 40% without compromising performance.

» High-efficiency dc-dc converter; multiple on-chip power rails with dynamic voltage scaling – reduces MCU active mode power up to 40%; extends battery life.

» Cost-effective development platform for SiM3L1xx – built-in USB based debug/program interface; accessible pins on standard spacing and breadboard area for easy prototyping.
