Renesas has today announced a collaboration with its alliance partner port in order to provide customers with comprehensive software support for Renesas multi-protocol industrial Ethernet solutions. Offering easy access to these technologies and a faster time-to-market, port implements PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and CANopen stacks on the Renesas Industrial Network devices.

Five times more efficient in Ethernet packet processing, the Renesas R-IN32M3 multi-protocol industrial Ethernet solutions utilise a revolutionary hardware accelerator design and reduce overall power consumption by 50%. Limiting the impact on overall power dissipation and offering the most robust implementation, EtherCAT and CC-Link IE real-time protocols are implemented in hardware.

The ARM Cortex M3 processor with 1.3MB embedded RAM runs the software based protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET RT, and Modbus TCP. Highly-integrated, the R-IN devices include Ethernet PHYs, various fieldbus interfaces and multiple peripheral modules.

PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and CANopen protocol stack solutions provide significant added value including the scalability of the library, which can be fully adapted to fit the user’s needs. Reducing time-to-market, Renesas offers comprehensive design tool support to speed the design process.

Backed up by port’s professional support network, port's protocol stacks provide a good base for the customer to pass all required certification tests and plugfests.
