MSC Vertriebs GmbH now offers its Intel Atom processor based embedded Qseven modules in the 70 x 70mm format with integrated flash disk. These modules allow customers to boot their embedded system not only via an external hard disk but also via the onboard flash disk. The boot performance and the flash capacity exceed the requirements of most Qseven applications. Without the need for an external hard drive very compact low cost embedded systems with increased mechanical stability can be implemented. The industrial grade 4GB flash disk offers a high sustained read/write performance, built in ECC support and is specified for an endurance of 10 millions write cycles. Supported are the operating systems Windows XP (embedded) and Linux.

The Qseven™ module MSC Q7-US15W-FD with the power saving Intel® Atom™ processor is available in two performance grades. The Z510 model runs at 1.1 GHz clock frequency, while the Z530 supports up to 1.6 GHz as well as other performance increasing features like Hyper Threading and Intel® Virtualisation Technology. The compact module also integrates the Intel® US15W System Control Hub (SCH) featuring the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500 and an 1GB DDR2 SDRAM.

Beside its compactness the computer-on-module MSC Q7-US15W-FD offers a broad selection of important interfaces defined in the Qseven™ specification. Eight USB 2.0 ports, a PCI Express™ x1 lane, LPC, high definition audio, two SATA channels at 150MB/s and an 10/100/1000Base TX Ethernet interface are available. A variety of different displays can be connected via LVDS (18/24 Bit) with a maximal resolution of 1366x768 and via SVDO with 1920x1080 pixels. In the dual independent display mode two displays can be driven simultaneously.

The MSC Qseven™ modules integrate innovative hardware and BIOS based security functionality compliant to the requirements of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). Therefore, the Trusted Platform Module TPM from Infineon and the “SecureCore” BIOS from Phoenix Technologies have been implemented.
