Green Hills Software, Inc., the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, has announced support for the embedded Intel Atom processor E6xx series. The Green Hills Software offering includes the INTEGRITY real-time operating system, INTEGRITY Secure Virtualization (ISV) technology, MULTI integrated development environment (IDE), optimising C/C++ compilers, and DoubleCheck™ static analyser.
Green Hills Software brings 28 years of experience in the embedded market to the launch of the Intel Atom processor E6xx series, enabling customers to create and deploy reliable, high-performance products for in-vehicle infotainment, industrial control and automation, in addition to a wide variety of other embedded applications, in the least amount of time and at the lowest cost.

“We are pleased to support the Intel Atom processor E6xx series,” commented David Kleidermacher, chief technology officer, Green Hills Software. “Modern embedded system designs place ambitious reliability, time-to-volume, and time-in-market demands on hardware and software designers. The combination of INTEGRITY and the Intel Atom processor E6xx series provides a compelling solution to address this challenge.”

“Intel’s 7-year life cycle commitment to providing high quality, reliable and cost effective Intel Atom platforms for the embedded marketplace is an important feature enabling developers to provide solutions across numerous market segments and products,” says Jonathan Luse, director of marketing for the Intel Low Power Embedded Products Division. “The integrated capabilities in the new Intel Atom processor E6xx series - such as Intel Hyper-Threading Technology and the PCI Express interface – enable developers to utilise the real-time capabilities of Green Hills products and deliver outstanding solutions for in-vehicle infotainment and mobile embedded devices.”

INTEGRITY for the Intel Atom processor E6xx series

The INTEGRITY RTOS’s unique and modern technology achieves unprecedented levels of security, safety, and availability for applications in transportation, industrial control, mobile, medical, aerospace, and other industries. The INTEGRITY RTOS is the foundation for Green Hills Software’s Platform for Industrial Safety, with certification by TÜV to IEC 61508 at Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3), in addition to the EN 50128 SWSIL 4 Railway Safety Certification. The INTEGRITY RTOS is also the first operating system technology certified by NSA to EAL 6+, High Robustness, the highest Common Criteria security level ever achieved for a software product. Only an EAL 6+, High Robustness operating system is certified to protect high value assets from sophisticated attackers.

The Ultimate Open Platform

With its open standards POSIX-conformant interface and ability to host general purpose operating systems such as Linux/Meego, Android, and Windows in secure virtual machines, the INTEGRITY RTOS can run more application software than any other operating platform, while maintaining the absolute highest level of security, reliability and real-time determinism for critical components, algorithms, applications, and subsystems. Green Hills Software brings the world’s market-leading embedded software solutions to the world’s most ubiquitous microprocessor architecture, adapted to power-constrained, high reliability embedded systems.

In addition to the INTEGRITY real-time operating system, the integrated Green Hills software development solution for the Intel Atom processor E6xx series consists of the following components:

• Comprehensive portfolio of embedded communications, file systems, and other middleware

• MULTI integrated development environment – providing the leading software development tool set for embedded software developers

• Green Hills Optimized C/C++ compilers – generating high-quality and efficient code for the Intel Architecture

• Green Hills Probe - providing powerful multicore debug control for board-bring up, device driver development and system-level debugging
