The Recommended Practice 1210 (RP1210) is a standardised interface for the communication between vehicles and Windows software. The PCAN-RP1210 API is an implementation of RP1210 version C by PEAK-System.

With the latest release, the company added support for the ISO-TP protocol (ISO 15765-2) in addition to CAN and J1939. The development of the former RP1210 version A implementation was discontinued since the standard was superseded by version C.

Since July 2020, PEAK-System offers the PCAN-RP1210 API free of charge for development and distribution. The new PCAN-RP1210 setup includes the API, documentation, as well as software for establishing and testing the connection.

The DLLs required for using RP1210 software with PEAK CAN interfaces can be installed with the company’s latest device driver setup.
