Data I/O Corporation today announced the new FLXHD Automated Duplication System for e-MMC devices, the only automated duplication system in a desktop footprint. Despite the small machine outline, the FLXHD system uses 40 sockets in parallel to achieve a very high throughput even when the amount of data in the device is large.
Programming large amounts of data is an increasing problem for manufacturers of products like smartphones, e-book readers, GPS systems and automotive entertainment systems. Manufacturers are scrambling to find ways to balance throughput with the increasing data size demands in these products. The FLXHD can produce more than 700 parts per hour even when the data size is multiple Gigabytes.

“Our leading-edge e-MMC support on FlashCORE III was a significant contributor to our record sales in Asia in 2011, and we expect to maintain our lead in e-MMC in the future with products like the FLXHD,” said Fred Hume, Data I/O’s President and CEO.

Bob Francis, Senior Project Manager at Data I/O, said, “The FLXHD is perfectly positioned to meet the huge increase in demand for e-MMC devices we have seen from our customers lately, while remaining extremely price-competitive for those who are looking to step up from manual solutions into automation.”

In addition to high throughput duplication of e-MMC devices, customers can expect to receive many other benefits from the FLXHD. Data I/O took the touchscreen and the intuitive graphical user interface from the FLX500 and simplified them even further to virtually eliminate human error associated with machine operation. Since the FLXHD is a duplication system, there is no changeover time associated with downloading large files when switching from one job to another. “We have tried to create a product that makes producing programmed e-MMC devices as fast, painless, and error-proof as possible. I think we’ve succeeded with the FLXHD,” said Francis.
