eSOL is pleased to announce that its PrFILE2 exFAT file system has been adopted for use as a data management software in the Nintendo Switch 2TM, a game console developed by Nintendo Co. PrFILE 2 exFAT is optimised for large storage media exceeding 32GB and provides high-speed file access functions for reading and writing of data on micro SD cards. This adoption follows its use in the Nintendo SwitchTM (2017) and Nintendo Switch Lite (2019).

The PrFILE2 exFAT file system supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and exFAT. It can handle large files at high speed, including video, music, or photographs stored on high-capacity devices such as USB memory sticks or external hard disks that are too large for the legacy FAT32 file system. It also features numerous functions demanded by digital cameras and other consumer electronic devices, such as a rapid reverse-seek function for file pointers that is essential for features like high-speed rewind and functions for keeping damage to the file system to a minimum in the event of a disconnection of the power supply or memory device, while still retaining the features of FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and file systems supporting VFAT (long filenames). It also provides support for the requirements of products designed for international markets, including multilingual support, dynamic switching of text codes and a Unicode support option.
