Modern advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have a growing influence on the reduction of CO2 emissions and increased driving safety. In the future, advanced driver assistance systems in the automotive sector will rely more on information from digital street maps. NAVTEQ and dSPACE now provide closely linked tools for the simple and efficient development of map-based advanced driver assistance systems.
The predictive assessment of information about the road ahead (Electronic Horizon™ technology) based on the current position of the vehicle and digital maps is a developmental focus in the automotive industry. Using concrete topographical information about the course of the roads and traffic signs, the system can provide intelligent adaptive cruise control systems, curve warning, overtaking assistants and predictive operation strategies for energy management. An important objective is the reduction of CO2 emissions.
NAVTEQ and dSPACE are already working on tools for future technologies to reduce vehicle energy consumption and the number of road traffic accidents.
