Mouser Electronics is now stocking the STMicroelectronics (ST) STM32WL Nucleo-64 boards, based on the new STM32WL Series microcontroller.

The STM32WL is said to be the world's first wireless microcontroller to integrate a LoRa transceiver on its silicon die, meeting the requirements of a wide range of low-power wide area network (LPWAN) wireless applications in industrial and consumer Internet of Things (IoT) markets.

ST's NUCLEO-WL55JC1 and NUCLEO-WLJC2 boards provide an affordable and flexible way for design engineers to try out new sub-GHz wireless communications concepts and build prototypes with the STM32WL Series wireless microcontroller, choosing from the various combinations of performance, power consumption, and features.

The boards include support for both Arduino Uno headers and ST morpho headers to provide an easy means of expanding the functionality of the STM32WL Nucleo open development platform with a wide choice of specialized shields.

The STM32WL Nucleo-64 boards also integrate the STLINK-V3E debugger and programmer, removing the need for a separate probe.

The onboard STM32WL55JC microcontroller incorporates two 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4/M0+ cores with 256 Kbytes of flash memory and 64 Kbytes of SRAM.

The device's specially engineered radio offers two power outputs — one up to 15 dBm and the other up to 22 dBm — and supports LoRa, (G)FSK, (G)MSK, and BPSK modulations. The NUCLEO-WL55JC1 supports the high-frequency band from 865 to 928 MHz used in the Americas and Europe, while the NUCLEO-WL55JC2 supports the low-frequency band from 433 to 510 MHz used in Asia, allowing design engineers worldwide to use the STM32WL in their designs.

The STM32WL Nucleo-64 boards come with the STM32WL comprehensive software HAL library and various packaged software examples available with the STM32CubeWL MCU Package.
