Qt 5.4 is particularly suitable for device creation in the automotive, STB/DTV, medical and industrial industries. The platform features Qt WebEngine, a new Chromium-based browser engine which supports HTML5 hybrid development, future-proofing the integration of web technologies. The Qt Quick 2D Renderer plugin allows Qt Quick graphics to run without OpenGL, enabling operation on low-end devices without a GPU. Qt 5.4 also features the Qt Quick Compiler 2.0, which reduces device boot-up time and secures against reverse engineering.
To address the growth in the development of IoT and wearable devices, the platform if offered with a technology preview of BLE support. The Qt Creator IDE has been updated to version 3.3, which features an all-new Qt Quick Designer. Developers can use the Qt 5.4 framework for the creation of both target platforms and supported platforms.
