OpenSynergy’s COQOS automotive platform now supports Xilinx's Zynq-7000 family of devices. The virtualization technology in COQOS offers a high degree of flexibility that makes it possible to fully exploit the potential of the Xilinx Zynq. It provides automotive manufacturers and suppliers with cost-optimized technology for advanced driver assistance systems. The first customers have already responded to this new development.
COQOS is a real-time operating system suitable for systems that need to comply with ISO26262. Its
design is based on a certified microkernel on which logical partitions run. A logical partition can host
a virtualized operating system such as Linux or can contain time-critical applications that run without
an additional operating system. COQOS also includes an AUTOSAR environment that can run in its
own partition. On multicore processors, such as the Zynq-7000, COQOS allows a flexible assignment
of partitions to processor cores. A guest operating system with high computing requirements can be
given access to multiple cores. Several partitions can deterministically share a single core. This
flexible assignment of resources ensures optimal utilization of processor computing power on Zynq-
7000.

This software architecture is especially suited to implement advanced driver assistance systems that
require real-time performance, high throughput, high reliability and short boot times. These systems
are typically most efficiently implemented using a combination of AUTOSAR-compliant modules,
highly optimized real-time software and feature-rich platforms such as Linux.

Xilinx's Zynq 7000 with the COQOS software platform from OpenSynergy complement each other to
form an efficient platform for the latest generation of advanced driver assistance systems.
