Kanda has taken the AVR Dragon programmer and emulator and created enhanced AVR development kits. As well as all necessary cables and instructions, AVR development board, books, software and sample code are all included in the package.
Kanda have added AVR Dragon based kits to their AVR development kit range. AVR Dragon is a combined programmer and emulator for most AVR microcontrollers, but has been available only as a board with no leads or cables until now

Kanda have added all the cables, adapters and leads needed for the AVR Dragon, and provided complete instructions, to make it simple to connect the AVR Dragon to a target circuit. The kit now includes 6 and 10-way ISP and debugWire leads, JTAG lead, USB cable and power wires plus adapters for STK200 and STK500 AVR boards. This allows it to be used “out of the box” so you can concentrate on code development not working out how the tool works.

Using Atmel’s AVRStudio development environment, the AVR Dragon allows programming using ISP or JTAG straight from the compiler. The debug features allow source level debugging in both C code and assembler, with run, step and breakpoint functions. It uses DebugWire for smaller pin count AVR microcontrollers and JTAG ICE for 40-pin or larger devices, covering most AVR devices.

In addition to the enhanced AVR Dragon, Kanda have produced complete new AVR development kits based on their famous STK200 and STK300 AVR board. The new kits use AVR Dragon for programming and emulation, and either the STK200 board for AVR devices with 40-pins or less or the STK300 board for 64-pin AVR microcontrollers.

Both boards have socket support for AVR, 3.3V and 5V power, UARTs, switches, LEDs, memory sockets and LCD interface plus port pin headers. These are comprehensive boards and are supplied with sample code in C and assembly language to get you started.

These AVR development kits also include AVRStudio development environment, WinAVR C compiler, AVR datasheets and complete instructions. There are also two books on the CD, Get Going with… AVR Microcontrollers and Embedded C Programming.

They are ideal for beginners, training providers and general AVR development as everything you need is included in the package.
