Vector's MICROSAR software has been supplied to BMW for a reference integration of the “BAC4 Release 2” AUTOSAR Core. The software focuses on internal vehicle communications over CAN, FlexRay and Ethernet. Due to reduced integration and testing needs, BMW and its ECU suppliers benefit from shortened development times.

Transformers for the SOME/IP protocol and end-to-end protection are introduced in the AUTOSAR Release 4.2.1. The transformers, which are implemented as a plug-in in the runtime environment (RTE), serialise the data stream. These concepts are already contained in MICROSAR. The BAC4 Release 2 components will be provided as AUTOSAR software components, assuring correct system behaviour. BMW integrates the components in a reference system and tests them with the MICROSAR stack.

The data formats of the AUTOSAR standard are now utilised by the Ethernet configuration. For this purpose, the DaVinci Configurator Pro configuration tool from Vector was extended. To ensure that the ECUs show the required system behaviour in early integration stages, the tool supports integration of the BAC4 Release 2 components and use cases defined by BMW.
