Genealogy solution provides PCBA tracking, traceability and control

Cogiscan has announced a Genealogy module providing tracking, traceability and control of PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) through subsequent assembly levels to the finished product.

The module enables serialised PCB assemblies, serialised sub-assemblies and components tracked at a lot number level to be assembled together during final product assembly. Cogiscan’s traceability database captures the identity of each individual PCBA, sub-assembly and other items, with the information linked directly to the serial number of the finished product.

It allows users to drill-down to multiple levels of sub-assembly, such as to identify which component lot numbers were used to build a specific PCBA in a specific product serial number, and to search the traceability database backwards to identify which product serial numbers were built using a specific component lot number.

Genealogy enables a higher level of traceability with multi-level box build traceability and improved inventory control with real-time visibility of all materials in process.

Manufacturing, warranty and customer service costs are reduced and product quality is improved with automated quality control.
