Gen3 Systems has announced the successful installation of its MBTech NC25 Conveyorised Batch PCB Cleaning System at Briton EMS’ facility in Bedford, England. The NC25 Batch Cleaner is specially designed around a patented filtration system and a unique process of combining forced convection and vacuum, providing high cleaning performance.

The NC25 system aims to be cost efficient and waste friendly, with designers responding to three essential criteria; efficiency, low running costs, and environmental respect. The system is designed for use with a number of chemistries in a closed-loop configuration, minimising waste and reducing operating costs.

Briton EMS selected the system due to the company’s need to recycle rinse water and avoid sending this to drain during each cleaning cycle. The company opted for a closed-loop system with a di-ionisation water module. According to Briton EMS, customer feedback received by the company showed that the NC25 was delivering high quality cleaning of PCBAs soldered with NO clean solder paste and solder wire, beating the customer’s tight cleaning specification and allowing the PCBAs to meet their challenging performance requirements.

Simon Naylor, Manufacturing Director, Briton EMS, commented; “Our shiny new MBTECH NC25 spray under immersion system arrived and was commissioned by the Gen3 team, then put straight to work to clean a range of PCBAs for a customer who supplies key installations for homeland security throughout the world.”

“When choosing the cleaning system we ran short of time to run trials to determine the optimum chemistry due to customer pressures and opted for a known formula from Zestron,” Naylor continued. “As we grow in confidence using the system we are working with Zestron to further improve results from the NC25 cleaning system by evaluating alternative cleaning chemistries, we are supported by the local Zestron distributor BLT, Zestron in Germany and Gen3 to further reduce cycle time whilst providing even cleaner PCBAs. The decision to buy the MBTECH NC25 against the competition has been validated by the performance, quality and ease of use of the cleaning system supported by Gen3 systems.”
