The materials include high-tech polymer iglidur Q2 for heavy loads and iglidur Z for extreme environments, as well as three FDA-suitable materials. Frequently used materials, such as iglidur G, J, W300, X and M250, are already available from stock in standard diameters up to 150mm.
In order to determine the optimum bearing for a given application, igus offers the Expert System, an online bearing lifetime calculation tool. After entering the application parameters and dimensions of the bearing, the system lists the most appropriate products with their prices. The service life is calculated and the results are given for every material.
“With this investment, we want our customers to get their required plastic plain bearings in any quantity and at the best price,” says Robert Dumayne, Director, igus. “With the increase from five to 16 full product range materials and 1,321 new standard dimensions, we now cover all conceivable demands on plain bearings that can be delivered from stock.”
