Wirelessly chargeable tablet targets IoT applications

Suitable for transport, medical and industrial IoT applications, the Gladius 8 tablet has been released by Arbor Technology. The device, which has a wireless charge capability, features a Quad-core Cortex A7 processor, a 7.85″ colour TFT LCD display with a multi-touch projected-capacitive touchscreen, and multiple connectivity options. 

Providing power-efficient performance, the Gladius 8 is based on a MediaTek MT8382 Quad-core Cortex A7 CPU and a PowerVR Series5XT GPU, which meets the multimedia requirements of next-gen computing applications. Connectivity options include two SIM sockets and Integrated WWAN, WLAN and Bluetooth connections.

The device’s TFT LCD display has a resolution of 1024x768px and utilises Corning Gorilla Glass with anti-reflective coating, providing both a rugged and lightweight solution. The Gladius 8, which is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications, can be charged wirelessly via with a QI compatible wireless charger.

The MIL-STD-810G and IP-65 rated device is particularly rugged, operating across a temperature range of -20 to +60°C. To protect the LCD and its I/O ports from impact, the Gladius 8 features a raised bezel and hinged rubber covers.

Featuring an in-field replaceable Li-on battery, the device can typically operate for up to 10 hours before it needs charging.

Based on an Android v4.4 OS, the Gladius 8 features an RFID/NFC reader which enables system access control, an integrated 1D barcode reader with a physical trigger button, 1GB of standard memory, 8GB of storage memory, and a number of USB and SD ports. A 1D/2D barcode imager is also optionally available.

Other features include a 2MP front camera and 8MP auto focus rear camera with an LED, a built-in microphone and speaker, an accelerometer (G sensor), 3-axis digital gyroscope, barometer, and ambient light sensor, and GPS, AGPS, and digital compass.
