Wireless devices widen BLE connectivity applications

Two new BlueNRG wireless products from STMicroelectronics (ST) are in stock at distributor Mouser Electronics.

The BlueNRG-2N wireless network coprocessor and BlueNRG-LP wireless system-on-chip (SoC) both enable Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity in applications such as home and industrial automation, smart lighting, fitness and wellness devices, security and mobile phone peripherals.

ST’s BlueNRG-2N device is a Bluetooth 5.0-certified and Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2-compliant wireless network coprocessor that integrates an Arm Cortex-M0 core with power management, clocks, Bluetooth low energy radio, random number generator, external microcontroller interface (SPI/UART), and public-key cryptography.

The Bluetooth Low Energy stack runs on the embedded Arm core and is stored in the on-chip non-volatile flash memory.

Additionally developers can easily upgrade the stack via SPI/UART, as well through the dedicated STMicroelectronics software tools.

The BlueNRG-2N coprocessor helps lower power consumption and adds support for the latest Bluetooth features, which increase data throughput and enhance privacy and security. The device connects to a host controller, allowing design engineers to scale the performance, features, and cost of the host system independently.
