What’s next for Machine to Machine communications?
Cambridge Wireless has drawn together leading industry experts to examine future opportunities and challenges for Machine to Machine communications. On 4 December 2013 at the London branch of Bird and Bird, “Mobile Networks: The advent of Machines – Are you ready?” will focus on the next phase of connected devices and how M2M will dramatically shape how we live, work and operate in the next decade.
Soraya Jones, CEO of Cambridge Wireless, commented: “Our Mobile Broadband Special Interest Group has pulled together an extraordinary event to challenge the current thinking around how mobile networks are structured, and how this will need to change in the future. The event will appeal to specialists in the mobile broadband field, including mobile operators who are directly involved in this evolution of technology along with next generation technology firms that have a new approach to connectivity and M2M devices.”
Speakers at the event will include representatives from u-blox, Airspan, EE Network Strategy and Plextek. The speakers will present the rapid advances in M2M connectivity, which are increasingly eliminating the human element. The event will explore how devices connecting to each other over the internet using mobile broadband is driving network requirements far beyond their current capability, putting the internet infrastructure under increased strain.
“According to the NSN Technology Vision 2020, an even broader range of use cases for networks will develop as communication technologies proliferate into all industries and billions of machines and objects get connected. We cannot even imagine most of the applications resulting from this today. Yet it is clear they will go far beyond the classical examples of the smart grid or home automation. Just imagine the potential – but also the requirements – that remotely controlled unmanned vehicles would bring to mobile broadband networks,” comments George Grayland, Senior Solutions Manager at Nokia Solutions and Networks who champions the event.
