Suntsu has released an Ultra-Miniature GPS Saw Filter with a PCB footprint of 1.1mm x 0.9mmm, which is the smallest design on the market. The use of RF filters in Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) is a necessity, but it is challenging to find smaller package sizes with a low insertion loss.

With the release of this Ultra-Miniature GPS Saw Filter, Suntsu directly addresses these two key challenges.

The new Suntsu SAW RF filter models within their small SMD package size will provide a typical insertion loss of 0.9dB(typ.) to 1.2dB(max) at a frequency range of 1,574.42 to 1,576.42MHz (where the VSWR in/out is in the range of 1.2 to 1.5), of 1.3 to 1.6dB respectively at 1,597.55 to 1,605.89MHz (VSWR 1.3 to 1.7) and of 1.1 to 1.6dB at 1,559.10 to 11,563.10MHz.

The attenuation ranges from 37dB (min.) to 40dB typ. (from DC to 960.00MHz) in steps down to 23 and 27dB respectively (between 4,900.00 and 6,000.00MHz). Maximum input power is 15dBm at 5.0VDC.

Operating temperature: -30 to +85°C, storage temperature -40 to +83°C. Moreover, this saw filter also has a simple 50Ω single-ended source and requires no impedance matching.

Key features include:

  • Low loss RF saw filter
  • Ultra-miniature size of 1.1x0.9mm
  • Low insertion attenuation
  • Simultaneous usage of GPS, COMPASS and GLONASS bands
  • No matching required for operation at 50ohms
  • Surface Mount Device (SMD)
  • Electrostatic Sensitive Device (ESD)
  • Moisture sensitivity level 3
