The patent pending Ultra Phantom low profile vertical antennas have been introduced by Laird Technologies. The manufacturer has claimed that the devices is the industry’s smallest high-performance omnidirectional low profile UHF antenna designed for use in government, public safety and industrial/commercial market segments.

The antenna can be used in speciality and heavy duty vehicles with secure mounting hardware that deters antenna vandalism, thanks to a low profile design which minimises height clearance problems. The Ultra Phantom antenna offers superior coverage in challenging terrain, claim Laird, with a combination of rugged, ultra-compact design and engineered high performance.

The UHF antenna operates over a frequency range of 380-512MHz, with 2.0-4.1dBi maximum gain to boost power output and improve signal reception. In order to ensure operation in challenging environments, the antenna is IP67 certified to protect against dust and water exposure.

Monty Rohde, Senior Vice President, Laird Technologies, comments: “Our customers have asked for a high-performance, extremely rugged, vertical low profile antenna in an ultra-compact form factor and Laird responded with the Ultra Phantom. Our commitment to our customers is to deliver smart technology and the patent pending Ultra Phantom is a prime example of Laird’s advanced engineering, product management and field distribution teams meeting and exceeding critical customer needs.”
