“The two new LISA family members are optimized for speeds typically found in remote monitoring applications. These modems are capable of 3.6Mb/s download and 384 kb/s upload speeds which are sufficient for the vast majority of M2M applications” said Thomas Nigg, VP Product Marketing at u-blox.
The new LISA-H modems are an extension of the previously announced LISA-U family of full-speed HSPA 3.75G modules. The LISA-H and LISA-U families together provide a complete range of wireless modems optimized for lower-speed M2M as well as high-speed Internet, voice and multimedia applications.
The LISA-H family comes in the industry’s smallest 3G modem form factor, 33.2 x 22.4 x 2.7 mm, and each module supports dual-band 3G frequencies (LISA-H100: 850/1900 MHz, LISA-H110: 900/2100 MHz). LISA-H110 is especially attractive for container tracking applications as it can provide wireless connectivity worldwide.
All LISA modules enable easy migration from u-blox’ LEON GSM/GPRS modules and offer seamless 2G-3G handover. As with all u-blox wireless modems, LISA-H can be directly coupled with a u-blox GPS receiver to support location-based services and GPS-based applications.
