Frontier Silicon launches converged Bluetooth digital radio module at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair

Frontier Silicon today announces the launch of Tuscany, its new module for Bluetooth audio devices. Tuscany’s versatile and flexible design makes it ideal for audio devices with any combination of high-performance Bluetooth, dual Band DAB/DAB+, FM with RDS and Apple Lightning/Android docking.

Leveraging Frontier Silicon’s years of experience in wireless audio design, attention to detail and high quality, Tuscany minimises time to market and development costs.

Tuscany enables a wide range of products such as wireless speakers, docks and sound bars, with its extensive and customisable feature set, including:

-Bluetooth A2DP streaming with optional AAC support
-Customisable smart device apps for remote control
-On-board Bluetooth antenna
-USB interface for smart device docking and field software updates
-Support for NFC Bluetooth pairing
-Best-in-class DAB/DAB+/FM radio
-Firmware pre-loaded with a variety of user interfaces for every product design

“Tuscany offers a unique proposition, merging wireless, dock and broadcast audio in a single small-footprint module” said Jim Nicholas, VP of Marketing at Frontier Silicon. “it will enable a wide range of high performance products for our customers.”

System designers can choose to use Tuscany in standalone devices or slave to another processor, using Frontier’s established communications interface. The module is supplied with a complete application design package and supported by Frontier’s world-class sales and support team to ensure the quickest time-to-market.

Tuscany will be introduced at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2013 Spring Edition, and the first models from selected partners will be in production later this year.
