Transceiver meets industrial wireless connectivity demand
Designed to be integrated into industrial equipment, the Circuit Design STD-503 wireless transceiver has been released by LPRS. Operating in the 2.4GHz band, the transceiver meets the growing demand for industrial wireless connectivity. The device, which has been developed for industrial applications that require stable and reliable operation, is designed to be embedded into OEM equipment.
Using highly noise resistant Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) modulation, the STD-503 ensures reliable radio communication in the congested 2.4GHz ISM band. The DSSS modulation also prevents signal drop-out due to multi-path fading by providing a true diversity receiver function. Two antennas facing different directions enable this. To provide these features and guarantee the long-term supply of key wireless components, Circuit Design has developed its own ASIC.
According to the company, the STD-503 is 50% smaller than earlier designs, measuring just 40x29x5.5mm. The transceiver, which retains the same command control used for frequency channel switching in earlier designs, allows channels to be switched according to pre-set channel plan.
