Transceiver integrates surge protection in small package

The Texas Instruments TIOL1123 is a transceiver that implements an IO-Link interface for industrial bidirectional, point-to-point communication.

It is in stock at distributor Digi-Key.

When the device is connected to an IO-Link master through a three-wire interface, the master can initiate communication and exchange data with the remote node while the TIOL1123 acts as a complete physical layer for the communication.

The transceiver can withstand up to 1.2 kV (500 Ω) of IEC 61000-4-5 surge and features integrated reverse polarity protection.

A simple pin-programmable interface allows for easy interfacing with the controller circuits. The output current limit can be configured using an external resistor.

The TIOL1123 can be configured to generate a wakeup pulse and be used in IO-link master applications.

Fault reporting and internal protection functions are provided for undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature conditions.

Applications include field transmitters and actuators, factory automation, process automation and IO-link PHY in remote IO.
