AXSEM’s AX8052F143 SoC, which integrates the company’s AX8052 MCU, has been certified SIGFOX Ready for two-way connectivity. AXSEM’s IC, library and development system enables IoT developers to use SIGFOX’s long-range, two-way wireless Internet-dedicated network with its lowest-power radio technology.

The low costs, low power consumption and international coverage provided by the SoC make it particularly suitable for environmental sensors, smart meters, patient monitors, security devices and streetlights. By providing small-message communication and extending the battery and service life of connected devices, the SIGFOX network removes the cost and energy-use barriers to the wide implementation of IoT and M2M solutions.

At 600b/s GFSK, the AX8052F143 receives with 9.5mA current and -129dBm sensitivity. Enabling designers to maximise battery life while extending communication range, the SoC features a 6dBm transmitter with only 10mA current consumption, or 16dBm with 45mA. According to AXSEM, the device’s 27-1050MHz frequency range makes it an industry leading solution.

“AXSEM was very early to recognise and respond to the demand for transceivers that provide extremely low-power, wireless connectivity for the IoT,” commented Stuart Lodge, Executive Vice President of Global Sales, SIGFOX. “Our fast-growing network requires a reliable supply of high-performance, low-cost and extremely energy-efficient integrated circuits, and our collaboration with AXSEM helps assure those solutions will be available to our customers.”

"AXSEM is focused on enabling IoT developers with easy-to-use development tools to bring their SIGFOX devices quickly to the market," said Dr. Thomas Wolff, CEO, AXSEM. "Our AX8052F143 lowest-power radio MCU solution gives those developers robust and reliable two-way connectivity to the SIGFOX global network.”
