Diamond Systems Corp., a supplier of ruggedized single-board computers (SBCs), embedded-ready subsystems (ERSs), and I/O expansion modules targeting real-world applications, today launched a series of Windows Embedded Software Development Kits (SDKs) for its PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expandable Athena II, Hercules II, Helios, and Pegasus SBCs.
Each SDK includes a tiny solid-state IDE “flashdisk” module – preloaded with a Windows Embedded CE 6.02 R2 or Windows Embedded Standard (formerly “Windows XP Embedded”) OS image – that plugs directly into one of Diamond’s SBCs, ready to boot and run immediately. With all required drivers pre-configured and ready to use, these bootable flashdisks complement Diamond’s reliable processor modules to create fully solid-state Windows Embedded-based small form factor computers.

Each Windows Embedded SDK provides a Windows Embedded CE or Windows Embedded Standard OS image that’s tailored to work seamlessly with a particular Diamond. Standard peripherals supported by preconfigured and preinstalled drivers within the provided Windows Embedded OS image include: PS/2 mouse and keyboard RS-232 serial ports IDE storage devices Ethernet networking

Additionally, for products having onboard data acquisition functions, each SDK contains Diamond’s exclusive Universal Driver, which supports the associated board’s onboard data acquisition capabilities. Demo programs for analog and digital I/O operation on these products are also provided.
