Powered by two Intel Sandy Bridge-EP or Ivy Bridge-EP Xeon processors, the PL-80650 2U networking platform has been introduced by WIN Enterprises. The platform, which expands from standard 2x GbE LAN ports to a maximum of 56 copper/fibre ports, was developed for high performance and robust scalability.

Intel QuickPath Interconnects running up to 8.0GT/s speeds are supported by the processors. Reducing socket latency and increasing performance, QuickPath technology provides a high-speed, point-to-point interconnect bus between processor and chipset. Four DDR3 SDRAMs (up to 1600/1866MHz) and a maximum memory capacity of up to 128GB are supported by each processor. The Sandy Bridge-EP-E5-2600V2 series processor is also offered with up to 12 cores, 30MB cache and up to 80 PCIe lanes.

The  PL-80650, which features one 2.5” SATA hard disk or SSD, supports control and packet processing. For more efficient cryptographic and compression performance, the platform provides hardware acceleration in communications applications. The platform, which supports Intel Quick Assist and the Intel Communication chipset DH89xx, features modules to support 10Gb SFP+, Gigabit copper with bypass function and Gigabit fibre ports. A maximum of 56 Ethernet ports are supported by the platform.

The PL-80650 is suitable for OEM applications such as unified threat management, enterprise network firewalls, application delivery controllers, WAN optimisation control and intrusion prevention. To support additional OEM requirements, the platform can be further modified.
